Movie Night at Red Rock Canyon - Hell's Heroes
Hell's Heroes is a 1929 American pre-Code Western sound film directed by William Wyler. It is one of many screen adaptations of Peter B. Kyne's 1913 novel The Three Godfathers. The film stars Charles Bickford, Raymond Hatton, and Fred Kohler as three bank robbers who promise a dying woman they will save her newborn child.
The plot revolves around four men who rob a bank in the town of New Jerusalem, killing a clerk and losing a crew member in the process. Three of the outlaws, Robert (Charles Bickford), Bob Sangster, and "Barbwire" Gibbons, escape into the desert but lose their horses in a sandstorm. They find a woman in labor at a dry water hole and she gives birth to a boy before dying. The woman makes the three outlaws promise to bring the baby to its father, who they had killed during the bank robbery.
Robert is determined to uphold his vow and save the child despite the lack of resources and the law pursuing him. The film is notable for being the first sound production directed by William Wyler.
Film will be shown in the Visitor Center media room at 7:00pm.
