School Groups and Scout Groups
School tour through Desert View Nature trail
Red Rock Canyon State Park is a great educational resource for both school groups as well as Boy and Girl Scouts.
Whether you are looking to go hiking or camping, Red Rock Canyon has a plethora of outdoor educational opportunities as well as platforms for learning life skills.
If you are interested in a field trip with your K-12 school group, please contact Ranger Laughlin at Damion.Laughlin@parks.ca.gov to schedule a visit for your organization/school. This will include a program for the students administered by park staff and volunteers. We will also provide an opportunity for your group to come to the gift shop for souvenirs following the tour.
Universities and Colleges are also encouraged and welcome to use the park as an educational resource. There is no need to formally schedule a visit with park staff, however please contact either Ranger Laughlin or the association at contact@redrockrrcia.org so that we can be aware of how the park is being utilized, and try to accommodate any needs and requests for your group.
Boy and Girl Scout groups are encouraged to utilize Red Rock Canyon for their outdoor events. We have a number of picnicking areas for day use events, and 50 campsites for overnight adventures. We have quite a few campsites that can be grouped together, however, there is no specific campsite for large groups. If you need a large site please be prepared to purchase more than one campsite for your stay.
For more camping information please go to the camping page
We would love to accommodate you in setting up adventures, learning opportunities, or volunteer projects for your scouts. Please contact Ranger Laughlin at Damion.Laughlin@parks.ca.gov or our Volunteer Coordinator Lou.Figueroa@parks.ca.gov for opportunities within the park.
