Red Rock Canyon is known for its spectacular rock formations whose colorful layers were carved from millions of years of erosion.  Red Rock Canyon is a living classroom in natural history, geology; paleontology, botany and other wildlife.  Red Rock also offers a vast array of recreational opportunities for our visitors such as hiking, photography, stargazing; riding (horses or motorized) and birding.  Red Rock has a rich history of human activity from the Native Americans that inhabited this area, to the miners of gold rush days to the plethora of movies that were filmed here using the majestic landscape as a dramatic backdrop.

Red Rock has a primitive campground with 50 campsites.  There is a Visitor Center at Ricardo Campground that is usually open on weekends from the fall to spring season.  We are closed in the summer due to the extreme heat which can reach 110 degrees.
